Winters in Northern Canada are extremely cold since Northern Canada has a tundra climate. The winters are very harsh, with significant snowfall and subzero temperatures.

Not only extremely cold, but the daylight hours shift significantly during the year, so around the winter solstice there will be little or possibly no sunlight for many days (depending on how far north).
